The national flag of Guyana was adopted on May 26, 1966. It is rectangular in shape and has a ratio of 5:3 in length to 3:3 in width. The yellow triangle arrow with white side marks two equal and corresponding green triangles on the flag. The triangle arrow contains a red equilateral triangle with black side. Green represents the country's agriculture and forestry and other natural resources, white represents rivers and water sources, yellow represents mineral deposits and wealth, black represents the people's courage and perseverance, red represents the people's enthusiasm and strength to build the motherland, and triangular arrows represent the pace of the country's progress.
