The national flag of Uzbekistan is rectangular in shape. The ratio of length to width is 2:1. From top to bottom, the flag is composed of light blue, white and light green stripes with two red edges. On the left side of the light blue stripe is a curved white crescent and twelve white stars (three rows, three rows, four rows, five rows, respectively).
Blue is the color of Turks and the color of Tamur's banner: Blue also symbolizes the eternal sky and pure water. The red edge symbolizes vigorous vitality and connects the thoughts of goodness, the eternal sky and the actions of the earth. The new moon symbolizes the new republic. Twelve stars symbolize the twelve months of the year and the twelfth sign of the zodiac. They symbolize self-improvement.
